Metal Slug 2, also known as MetalSlug2 in the North American and European versions of the Dreamcast port, is a run-and-gun action game developed by SNK for arcades (later ported to various home consoles). Released initially in 1999, it was released later on other platforms including PlayStation 3 via download through the PlayStation Store. The gameplay follows that of its predecessor Metal Slug with minor tweaks such as increased difficulty and new characters.

Metal Slug 2 received positive reviews upon release for its faithful recreation of the original game's feel while also offering some welcome improvements over previous installments in terms of graphics, sound effects, and level design compared to other ports at time. However, criticism was directed towards lacklustre boss battles which many felt did not live up standards set by earlier titles within series.

Metal Slug 2 has since become a cult classic among fans due largely thanks efforts made by community members who continue supporting title through creation of fan-made ROM hacks and patches designed specifically for certain systems like the Nintendo DS or even older hardware such as the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.
